Why is humidity important for concert halls?

Humidity control is very important for concert hall where musical instruments such as piano, pipe organs, violins or other wooden and string made instruments are very sensitive to air and humidity level variation. Any relative humidity dropping below 40%RH might cause:

  • pipe organ sliders to warp and stick;
  • Any wooden instrument to warp and crack;
  • String dehydration and cracking;
  • nose and throat dryness of singers;
  • indoor space discomforts and well-being problems for musicians and , spectators, which could lead health problems due to dry air.

Therefore concert halls need to control the environment because temperature and relative humidity can fluctuate dramatically when a concert is performed in front of large audience. This requires constant operation of reliable and responsive humidification system.
